2304 stainless steel (Chinese grade: 00Cr23Ni4N) is a low-alloy duplex stainless steel developed by Sweden. Its solution treatment temperature is about 1000℃, and its structure is 40%-50% ferrite and 50%-60% austenite. It has the common characteristics of duplex stainless steel. It is a steel type developed as a high-strength and low-cost steel that can replace the commonly used austenitic stainless steels of 304L and 316L.
The PRE value of SAF2304 duplex stainless steel is 25, which is equivalent to that of 316L stainless steel. When we tested the relationship between the critical pitting temperature (CPT) and chloride ion content of several steels in NaCl solution at a potential of 300mV, we found that the CPT value of ASF2304 duplex stainless steel was higher than that of 304L and equivalent to that of 316L. The test results of several steels in a neutral chloride solution in an autoclave showed that the applied stress was equivalent to the yield strength of the steel at that temperature, the test time was 1000h, and the area below the curve was where stress corrosion cracking did not occur. In addition, SAF2304 duplex steel has good intergranular corrosion resistance and can pass the test of CuSO4+H2SO4 copper scrap method. SAF2304 duplex steel has good corrosion resistance in nitric acid, comparable to 304L. In other acids, such as sulfuric acid, its corrosion resistance is equivalent to 316L, and in organic acids, such as formic acid, it is even better than 316L.
